Our Baby Boy, Gone Too Soon

Written and Photos by Raygen Davis

We were expecting our first son, Sutton- to be born on 4/13/22. On 1/3/22 I went in for routine lab work and results showed I had HELLP syndrome. We had to go into emergency c-section at 25.5 weeks to deliver Sutton to save me. He was 1.06 pounds and 12 inches of tiny perfection. Sutton went to the NICU and fought four hard days.

Our sweet Sutton Zane went to be with Jesus on 01/07/22. He is resting in the arms of our Lord. He fought the good fight, and now he’s our perfect guardian angel.

Selfishly, I wish we could have kept him here with us forever, but his little body was so tired.

Sutton is so handsome, so loved, so perfect. He exceeded many expectations, and touched many lives in his few days on earth. He is my hero. Every single second we got with him was an amazing blessing, and I’m so grateful for all the moments we spent with him. I cannot thank the NICU team enough, especially Katy, for taking such good care of our boy.

Sutton Zane is the best gift we have ever received, our proudest accomplishment, and I’m beyond proud to be his mama. His dad and I will continue to tell Sutton’s story and live our lives to honor him and make him proud. I can’t wait until we see him again.
